EssentialsX, fixed up for Paper 1.21.4 to 26.3.

Needs Paper 1.21.4 to 26.3. Use Java 21 for 1.21.x and Java 25 for 26.x, as Paper requires. Your existing settings and player data carry over, and plugins like Vault and LuckPerms keep working.
Addon jars such as Chat and Spawn are not on this page yet. They have to match the main jar's version.

Faster
Essentials starts in about a sixth of the time EssentialsX takes, and some commands do less work. See the measurements.

More stable
Commands that could misbehave with unusual input now handle it, instead of giving odd results or errors.

One jar for Paper 1.21.4 to 26.3
Every release from 1.21.4 through 26.3 is supported, with no unsupported version error.

Updates itself safely
New versions are checked before they are installed, and they take effect on the next restart.
Startup, measured
The same test server was started 12 times, switching between EssentialsX 2.22.0 and EssentialsY on every start. These are the middle values (medians) of the six starts each.
Range over six starts: EssentialsX 1,905 to 2,580 ms, EssentialsY 318 to 381 ms.

Each EssentialsX start ran just before the EssentialsY start in the same row. Server ready times swing more because they cover the whole server, and two EssentialsX starts were slowed by something else on the machine. Medians keep those from skewing the result.
Install it
- Stop the server and remove
EssentialsX-*.jarfromplugins/. - Drop the
EssentialsYjar intoplugins/. Any addon jars you use must be the same version. - Start the server. Your existing configs and player data carry over.

Paper 1.21.4 to 26.3, with Java 21 for 1.21.x or Java 25 for 26.x. Addon jars have to be the same version as the main jar.
